Join QPIRG McGill and the Muslim Students’ Association for a roundtable discussion on tuition hikes, access to education and what students are doing about it.
As public education around the world is being threatened, and in particular at a time when the Quebec government is massively cutting funding to social programs while simultaneously hiking tuition, students, workers and activists are coming together to talk about how to fight back.
This event will take the form of a facilitated discussion, with opening presentations by students, graduates and activists who have been involved with the student movement in varying capacities over the years. Presentations will include a history of the student movement at McGill, recent resistance to increased tuition and government spending on education, and how access affects already marginalized people.
This event is co-organized by QPIRG McGill and the Muslim Students’ Association (MSA) of McGill University and is part of Social Justice Days 2011, an annual event series co-organized by QPIRG McGill and the Equity Commissioner of the SSMU.
