Action
Working Groups
QPIRG McGill’s activities are primarily conducted through its working groups. These are autonomous organisations, made up of students and community members, who undertake action and research into issues at the core of QPIRG McGill’s mandate.
Check out the list of all our current working groups, with links to their websites and contact info.
Internships
McGill students interested in conducting action-oriented research into a social justice or environmental issue, on campus or in Montreal, can be supported by QPIRG McGill through the Internship Programme. Interns can make use of the office space, including the use of computers, media, the resource library, and limited photocopier use. Interns may also receive financial support on an ad-hoc basis.
Students can receive academic credit for their internship with QPIRG McGill, if students are enrolled in the appropriate internship course, and after consulting with their academic advisor and when working with a Professor as their Internship Supervisor.
Rad Frosh
Rad Frosh is a 2-day program organized by QPIRG-McGill. It is a creative, politically progressive orientation to McGill and Montreal. Rather than focusing on consumption of alcohol as a means to socialize and have fun, the program is geared to giving incoming students a fun introduction to community organizing and activism in Montreal. Through tours, concerts, panels, film screenings, and workshops, students are introduced to social and political issues, movements and organizations in Montreal and McGill.
School Schmool: The Organizer
School Schmool is a project that started in 1994. It “is a book about breaking down boundaries between McGill and the outside world.” The newest versions of School Schmool serve as an introduction of the wider montreal social justice community to McGill students as well as a day planner. It is truly an “agenda-with-an-agenda.”
