Join the Harm Reduction Squad! | Deadline for applications – Monday, August 15th at 5:00 pm
What does the Harm Reduction Squad do?
The Harm Reduction Squad ( HRS ) is one of the most important factors in making Rad Frosh an accessible and safer space!
The HRS will be present during many Rad Frosh events, offering harm reduction materials ( such as ear plugs, water, safer sex supplies, and safer partying information ) and general support to participants and facilitators. Members of the HRS are the non-judgmental, friendly face that steps in to support participants who may need help getting home at night, navigating drug and / or alcohol use, or may just be feeling out of place.
What is the time commitment like?
We are looking for 10 – 15 harm reduction volunteers to fulfill 1 – 2 volunteer shifts of approximately 3 hours each during Rad Frosh; HRS volunteers should already have experience related to harm reduction and active listening; volunteers will also attend a brief training on either August 29 or August 30 in the evening.
How do I apply?
Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org before Monday, August 15th at 5:00 pm. Include “Harm Reduction volunteering” in the subject line, and tell us a little bit about yourself and your relevant experience! If you prefer, you may also call us at 514-398-7432 or make arrangements to stop by QPIRG-McGill.
*Note: you can apply to be both a facilitator and harm reduction squad member!
