Schedule

This year we're expanding to bring you even more events! Programming will run from September 1st - 4th, 2016. We'll continue to update the schedule with more details, but here are the basics:

Thursday, September 1st

1:30pm - Sign-in, meet & greet, receive t-shirts and frosh bags at SSMU Ballroom (3rd floor, 3480 McTavish Street)

You'll meet your frosh leaders and frosh groups, get a chance to mingle, and be given your Rad Frosh t-shirt and frosh bag!

3pm - Campus scavenger hunt! Leaving from SSMU Ballroom (3rd floor, 3480 McTavish Street)

You'll be sent around campus to collect answers and items from radical groups and organizations on campus, and you'll get familiar with significant campus locations in the process!

6:30pm - Picnic at Parc Mont-Royal (Leaving from SSMU Ballroom (3rd floor, 3480 McTavish Street)

A free, delicious vegan picnic spread will be provided by the Midnight Kitchen!


Friday, September 2nd

5:30pm - Drag 101 workshop

An optional workshop on the art of Drag, given by local performers! This will take place in the Players' Theatre, on the 3rd floor of the SSMU Building.

8pm - Drag and Burlesque show

A Drag and Burlesque show, featuring local performers! This is a non-drinking event. This will take place in the Players' Theatre, on the 3rd floor of the SSMU Building.


Saturday, September 3rd

9:30-11am - Breakfast

We'll provide a wide variety of breakfast foods, including vegan and gluten free options.

11am-1pm- Workshops!

You will have a choice between 6 rad workshops, covering everything from Anarchism 101 to Urban Gardening! Check out the full list of choices here.

1pm - 2:30pm - Lunch, ft. screenprinting!

A free, delicious vegan lunch will be provided by the Midnight Kitchen!

2:30-4:30pm - Guided tours

You'll have the option to take 1 of 5 radical guided tours. Check out your options here!

Rad Frosh will also feature:

  • a clothing swap
  • opportunities to screenprint, dye, and decorate T-shirts and bandanas
  • a quiet, chill space to take a break from all the action
  • opportunities to connect with activist groups and clubs on campus

7pm-10pm - Open Mic Night

A super supportive performance night, featuring the talents of froshies like yourself! This is a non-drinking event, and will take place at the MAI Café, 3680 Jeanne-Mance Street.

7:30pm-10:30pm - Annual Benefit Concert

A concert featuring local and out of town talent, with all proceeds being donated to local radical groups. This event will take place at Bar le 'Ritz' PDB.

10:30pm-3am - Rad Frosh Dance Party

A dance party featuring local DJs!


Sunday, September 4th

9:30am-11am - Breakfast

A delicious breakfast and coffee spread, featuring gluten free, vegan, kosher, and halal options!

11am-12:30pm - Hike up Mont Royal

Take a guided hike up Mont-Royal! This short hike will be departing from the lobby of the SSMU building at 11am.

11am-1pm - Do-It-Yourself Fair

Visit a variety of DIY stations and learn practical skills such as how to fix your bike, make a podcast, have safer sex, increase your tech security, and more!

1pm-2pm - Lunch

A delicious free vegan lunch will be provided by the Midnight Kitchen!

2pm-4pm - Workshops

A second round of workshops will be held, and you'll have to choose 1 of 6! To view a full list of workshops, click here.

5:30-9:30pm - Park activities and BBQ

Unwind from the weekend with games and activities at a park, followed by a BBQ featuring vegan and gluten free options! This event takes place at Parc Lafontaine.

9:30-11:30pm - Outdoor film screening

Eat snacks and watch a film under the stars! This event takes place at Parc Lafontaine.

10pm-3am - Closing Loft Party

Rad Frosh comes to an end with this loft party, featuring pay-what-you-can haircuts, a photo booth, snacks, karaoke, and dancing! This event takes place at Studio 303, 372 Ste Catherine Street West.
