Through the administrative infrastructures already in place at McGill and Concordia University, students may complete a CURE research project as an independent study course, internship, or thesis advised by a departmental professor, or as a term project for an upper-level class. By connecting students to nonprofit community groups with limited resources, we hope to encourage and support academic research that is socially relevant. For more information about QPIRG visit: www.qpirgmcgill.org   Responsibilities:   To co-ordinate the overall activities of the QPIRG-McGill’s portion of the CURE Program: Working in collaboration with a CURE committee, comprised of members of QPIRG Concordia and McGill, to coordinate the CURE project during the summer. Updating the CURE website and database. Outreach and communications with McGill departments and faculty to raise awareness about CURE Working specifically with McGill professors to integrate CURE into their curriculum. Organizing a schedule of classroom visits and tables on the McGill campus during the school year. Helping to plan a CURE awareness-raising events during the year. Co-facilitating a review of current CURE projects Undertaking community outreach to raise awareness about CURE and soliciting new proposals. For more info about the work-study program, please visit http://www.mcgill.ca/studentaid/workstudy/students   ******APPLICATION DEADLINE: TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4th at NOON*****   Resource Centre Coordinator   Responsibilities:   To co-ordinate the overall activities of the QPIRG-McGill Resource Centre:   • Assist volunteers, students and the general public in accessing the library’s resources (books, magazines, movies, CDs, etc.);   • Manage and update subscriptions;   • Keep track of borrowed items and maintain/update the library database;   • Order new books, videos, etc.;   • Co-ordinate with other QPIRG staff members;   • Coordinate with other alternative/radical libraries to update an online/searchable database of resources;   • Manage resource centre budget;   • Advertise Resource centre to McGill students through outreach, events, online presence, etc.   Applicants Should Have:   • Strong organizational skills;   • Excellent interpersonal skills;   • Knowledge and analysis of social justice issues/literature;   • Good research and data management skills;   • Previous library experience an asset;   • Ability to take initiative and work independently.   • Knowledge or experience with cataloging books and organizing materials (desired but not required)   • Knowledge of QPIRG-McGill and its working group.       Details: $10.00/ hr., 15 hours/ wk (Fall and Winter semesters)   Start Date: Monday, September 10thth, 2012       QPIRG recognizes and welcomes the unique contributions that individuals from diverse communities bring to our organization, and invites individuals from these communities to apply.
