We’re Hiring a Campus Outreach Coordinator

Contract Details: This is a part time position (approximately 10 hours a week), at $18.38/hr. The contract begins September 22nd, 2014 and ends April 22nd, 2015. The hours are flexible, but will also fluctuate depending on the events or projects ongoing at the time. It will require some evening work. It is intended for students who graduated in Spring 2014, or who are taking time off from school this semester.

Job Description:

  • Assist the External Coordinator of QPIRG McGill with outreach to McGill’s campus
  • Distribute flyers and poster McGill buildings for QPIRG events/projects including Culture Shock, Social Justice Days, the Community University Research Exchange, the Alternative Resource Library, etc
  • Help table at QPIRG-McGill outreach and orientation events, including Activities Night, tabling at the Y intersection, etc
  • Make classroom announcements regarding QPIRG-McGill projects and campaigns
  • Aid with outreach regarding QPIRG-McGill campaigns or special projects as requested
  • Liaise with other campus groups regarding QPIRG-McGill activities
  • Coordinate outreach on social media
  • Liaise with the other QPIRG staff as necessary

A successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of McGill campus, especially with regards to outreach (postering locations, portering regulations, etc
  • Familiarity with Facebook and Twitter for community organizations
  • Comfort speaking in public, making classroom announcements, and flyering
  • Commitment to the principles of QPIRG McGill’s mandate and its realization
  • Anti-oppression analysis and proficiency in applying this to all levels of decision-making
  • Knowledge and awareness of political, social, economic and environmental issues
  • Experience in community organizing, activism and mobilization
  • Knowledge of QPIRG-McGill and its programs and working groups an asset
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently without much supervision
