DESCRIPTION:WHERE I COME FROM THE GROUND IS RED\nWith Mak Ékoué \nWHERE I COME FROM THE GROUND IS RED is a slow\, attentive\, creative workshop – an exercise in bearing witness to the life of land beyond human intervention. Using simple writing to share intimacies with strangers and create space between wounds\, participants will first share personal experiences and collectively read from a selection of poetic provocations. What follows will take different shapes as each will formulate a response\, process a piece of trauma\, or simply explore a musing in creating a paper zine. We will conclude with a zine exchange. \nMak Ékoué is an artist and design researcher born and raised in Tiohtià:ke (Montréal). Specifically interested in explorations of queerness\, radical care\, and material cultures as they pertain to urban contexts\, all spheres of their work revolve around ideas of memory\, archival\, and cultural references. Their artistic practice\, primarily composed of poetry and zine-making\, is largely comprised of writings about the cherished people\, and multitude of sacred places\, that have cradled them thus far. \nThursday\, October 30th\, 6-8pm\nLeacock 210 (855 rue Sherbrooke O) \n Accessibility: \nBuilding is wheelchair accessible. Gender neutral washroom is on the second floor.
