Culture Shock presents: Clowning Around<\/h2>\n

Nov. 24th, 6:00-8:00 PM<\/strong>
\nLocation: 2100 rue Guy, #205<\/p>\n

This is a workshop open to everyone interested in learning more about drag, clowning, gendered performance, and how it all ties together. Join Camellia Jahanshahi, aka Mina Minou, a multidisciplinary artist and performer with a special clowning guest for a workshop that is part lecture and part activity. In this workshop we will explore the ancient history of gendered performance and the political connections between queerness and performance art. Following a 30 minute lecture piece we will move through some physical exercises that put theory into practice as we explore the more tangible sides of these performances (1.5-2 hours with a break).<\/p>\n

Culture Shock est une s\u00e9rie annuelle d'\u00e9v\u00e9nements sur l'antiracisme, la justice des migrants et la solidarit\u00e9 indig\u00e8ne. Son objectif est de rassembler les communaut\u00e9s racialis\u00e9es pour discuter de questions pertinentes pour leur vie, ainsi que de permettre \u00e0 ceux qui n'appartiennent pas \u00e0 ces communaut\u00e9s d'en apprendre davantage sur les luttes contre le racisme, le colonialisme et la violence aux fronti\u00e8res. Chaque ann\u00e9e, le GRIP organise des discussions, des ateliers, des projections de films, des soir\u00e9es de performance et des soir\u00e9es de collecte de fonds pour les \u00e9tudiants de McGill et les communaut\u00e9s montr\u00e9alaises en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral.<\/p>\n
