Zine Making with Prisoner Correspondence Project<\/h2>\n

An all-in-one primer of what you need to know about zines, their historic role in leftist movements, and their current relevance in the age of Information. This workshop will be facilitated by volunteers from Prisoner Correspondence Project (PCP).<\/span><\/p>\n

Plus: make your own zine with provided materials, and check out samples from the zine libraries of QPIRG-McGill, QPIRG Concordia, and PCP.<\/span><\/p>\n

Prisoner Correspondence Project (PCP) is a solidarity project for 2SLGBTQ+ prisoners in Canada and the United States, linking them with people a part of these same communities outside of prison. As part of our work, we distribute hundreds of zines covering many, many topics – from gay smut to safer tattooing to legal aid – per year to queer prisoners who request them from our library.<\/span><\/p>\n

This event is part of Culture Shock 2024! Culture Shock is an annual event series on anti-racism, migrant justice, and Indigenous solidarity. It seeks to bring together racialized communities to discuss issues relevant to their lives, as well as to allow those who do not belong to these communities to learn more about struggles against racism, colonialism and border violence. Every year, QPIRG brings panels, workshops, film screenings, performance nights and fundraiser parties to McGill students and broader Montreal communities.<\/p>\n

The entrance at 2100 Guy has one flight of stairs. For step-free access, use the entrance at 1625 de Maisonneuve Ouest. Buzz #0205<\/strong>\u00a0to be let through the automatic doors, then take the elevator up to the second floor. The door to our space can be opened by automated button, and swings out.<\/p>\n

There is a paid parking lot beside our building, entrance on Guy.<\/p>\n
