Penning Community Almanacs for The Future

Persisting and Resisting Corporate Climate Crisis

Date and time: Friday, March 15th from 2-4pm

Location: Frigo Vert (1440 rue Mackay)

This workshop is inspired by the Earthbound Farmer’s Almanac (to be discussed in the workshop) which is described as follows: “This is a farmer’s almanac for the end of a world and the beginning of many others/ It’s a place for experimentation, for finding new forms and retrofitting old ones, for sharing stories of lived efforts toward a collective exit from this colonial nightmare, this separateness from the Earth.” Creating almanacs for these times – building on past practices of almanacs but for the current conditions that climate crisis brings up – is the making of experimental space for connection engaging deeply with life on earth (including the stars) while resisting the systems at the root of suffering. The goal of this workshop is to offer a potential tool for persisting and resisting climate crisis both personally and collectively. This workshop will include a presentation, an almanac journal collage and art activity, guided group discussion, and skillsharing.

This workshop is hosted by Pamela Fillion, a community herbalist and radical home ec educator who has been involved in social and environmental justice in Montreal for over 16 years.
