Guerrilla Gardening & Seed Bombs 101

March 19 @ 5:30 pm7:30 pm EDT

Dig into the art and activism of guerrilla gardening with us on March 19, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the Concordia Greenhouse! This hands-on workshop explores how planting in neglected, public and private urban spaces has been used as a form of resistance that creates beautiful green spaces, grows food, and reclaims unused land for and by the community.

Participants will explore the intersecting agricultural and land-back resistance movements throughout history, from Canada and the US to Africa, Latin America, and beyond, grounded in the revolutionary teachings of the Zapatistas and Emiliano Zapata’s “Tierra y Libertad” (Land & Freedom) movement.

Get your hands dirty making seed bombs, a guerilla gardening tool, and discover which seeds work best for different spaces, taking into account native plants and avoiding invasives. All seed bombs made during the workshop will be ready to take action in your community, equipping you to plant seeds of beauty wherever they’re needed most.
