Manthan Film Screening

Join us on March 25th from 6:30 pm at McEng 12 alongside South Asian Diaspora Action Collective (SADAC), QPIRG-Concordia, and the Association of McGill University Support Employees (AMUSE) to watch MANTHAN (1976). This film is a fictionalized account of the extraordinary dairy cooperative movement that transformed India from a milk-deficient nation to the world’s largest milk producer. It is also India’s first crowdfunded film, produced by 500,000 dairy farmers who contributed two rupees each toward the production. Afterwards, organizers from SADAC will lead a discussion on labour, gender, caste, and community organizing in India.
