School Schmool Call for Submissions

✨ CALLING ALL CREATIVE MINDS! School Schmool is seeking submissions for our upcoming publication on the theme of THRIVING. We want your written articles, poetry, visual artwork, comics, photography, and more that explore the concept of thriving in various aspects of life. Join us in creating a dynamic and engaging collection that sparks conversations, challenges norms, and inspires change.

Your work will be featured in our ad-free, empowering publication, reaching a wide audience. Don’t miss the opportunity to be a part of School Schmool and share your unique take on thriving. Let your creativity shine!

Compensation:

• Full page artwork: $100
• Half page artwork: $50
• Main issue/long-form 101 articles: $100
• Short-form 101 articles, poetry, and short creative submissions: $75

📓 WHAT IS SCHOOL SCHMOOL? We are your friendly guide to navigating university life with a radical twist. We’re ad-free, corporate-free, and put out an agenda with an agenda: connecting the McGill, Concordia, and Tioh’tia:ke communities. We proudly feature content that offers radical, anti-oppressive, and intersectional perspectives, giving voice to BIPOC, Queer and/or Trans individuals.

🔍 WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR? This year, School Schmool invites submissions based on the theme of THRIVING. Capitalism and white supremacy leave many of us struggling to to simply get by: what does it mean to grow, to flourish beyond basic survival?

We invite submissions that explore the concept of thriving – whether personal, academic, or social. Share your experiences, insights, resources and creative expressions that inspire/are inspired by growth, resilience, resistance, and empowerment.

You can find prompts to inspire you in the Submission Guidelines in our linktree but feel free to go elsewhere with your medium(s).

✏️🎨📷 WHAT KIND OF SUBMISSIONS?

• Longer articles or shorter pieces such as DIY/beginner’s guides, tips and tricks, 101’s and how-tos on any topic relating to our theme
• Creative writing like personal essays, short stories and prose/poetry
• Visual artwork in any medium! Illustration, photography, collage, etc.
