Security Culture Sharing Circle

March 16th, 3-4:30pm at ECOLE (3559 rue University)

This event will serve as an informal sharing of knowledge regarding security culture, aiming to help fellow organizers maintain their safety in both digital and physical spaces. We will discuss online security, including platforms for secure organizing. We will also discuss best practices for safe(r) direct action, such as police liasoning. The event will be structured with facilitator(s) presenting some background and basic information, and then opening up discussion for folks to share their experiences and ask questions.

Members from Divest McGill (@divestmcgill) will lead the event. Divest is a student-led campaign that advocates for McGill to divest from fossil fuels and for the democratization of the University, as well as working to create an active anti-capitalist, anti-colonial space on campus.

This event is part of our week-long event series, Spring into Action, which will take place from March 10-22. Stay tuned as we post more events this week! Visit qpirgmcgill.org/spring-into-action to learn more!

Accessibility

  • We regret to note that ECOLE is not wheelchair accessible. The front entrance is four steps up and has two heavy doors with a buzzer system.
  • Most of the doors in the building are heavy, including washroom doors. All washrooms are single-use and non-gendered. There are unfortunately no handrails next to the toilets or sinks.
  • All rooms have fluorescent lighting, though during the day many rooms can be lit with natural light through large windows.
  • We cannot guarantee that ECOLE is a scent-free space.
