Rad Frosh 2025 is happening August 29–31!

Rad Frosh is a three-day alternative orientation for students who want to connect, learn, and build community, all through a social justice lens.

This year’s theme, All Roads Lead to Rad, invites you to explore where your story meets collective resistance.
Expect:

  • Catered meals
  • Art & reflection spaces
  • Skill-building workshops
  • Panels on activism, organizing & movement-building
  • We kick off with a campus tour that challenges colonial histories, and dive into a Friday night panel on McGill, repression, and lawfare, with voices from across campus and beyond.
  • Whether you’re new to Tio’tia:ke/Mooniyang or just looking for a space that feels real, this is your Frosh.

This unique experience will give you the chance to get to know activist and community groups on campus and beyond, while also introducing you to more social justice issues.

Registration for Rad Frosh costs $80. Rad Frosh operates to be as accessible as possible, and offers a pay-what-you-can bursary option on the registration platform.

Workshops and Tours

Rad Frosh offers a variety of workshops on topics related to activism and community organizing. We also host a radical guided tour of McGill and the surrounding Milton-Parc neighbourhood.

Alternative Event Options and Catered Meals

Rad Frosh offers a wide variety of events, with casual event options like movie screenings and board game nights. We also provide all froshies with catered meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Queer-friendly events

In the past, Rad Frosh has organized drag shows and kiki balls to showcase local drag artists and performers, as well as a queer prom!

  • Rad Frosh has a pay-what-you-can option, and personne ne sera refusé par manque de fonds.

Become a facilitator!

Rad Frosh is truly a community effort. We rely on volunteers to plan and execute Rad Frosh, and we are so grateful to the activists and community groups who host workshops, tours, and DIY Fair tables. There are always ways to get involved with Rad Frosh!

Les animateurs sont des dirigeants non hiérarchiques qui sont essentiels à l'expérience Rad Frosh. Les facilitateurs seront jumelés et seront chargés de guider un groupe de participants au cours du week-end. C'est très amusant et c'est une excellente occasion d'en apprendre davantage sur le travail extraordinaire qui se fait sur le campus et à Montréal!

Les animateurs sont attendus:

  • Attend a mandatory training sessions at the end of August
  • Animer une discussion en petit groupe et prendre des nouvelles des participants tout au long du week-end
  • Être présent lors de la programmation tout au long du week-end de Rad Frosh
  •  Veiller à ce que les participants passent un moment agréable, éducatif et aussi sûr que possible pendant le programme
  • Jouer un rôle de mentor pour les participants de leur groupe
  • Être un guide actif, non critique, respectueux et capable de réduire les risques pour son groupe de participants tout au long du week-end
  • Dans la mesure du possible, fournir un soutien logistique tout au long du week-end afin d'assurer le bon fonctionnement de Rad Frosh
