Bénévoles

QPIRG-McGill is always seeking volunteers to help plan fun and educational events for social and environmental justice, to participate in inspiring campaigns, maintain the library, offer translation, childcare, and help with publicity. Volunteers can be community members or students.

Here are some of the various ways you can volunteer with QPIRG:

Bibliothèque

The QPIRG library collective consists of volunteers who are dedicated to sharing and preserving diverse forms of knowledge that adhere to QPIRG McGill’s Anti-Oppressive mandate. We strive to build communities as well as promote personal development by holding events such as skill-shares and zine club. Volunteers can get involved in the more technical aspects of the library such as working with the circulation or catalogue, or work with broader visions for the library such as increasing accessibility and outreach, as well as finding new materials.

Outreach

Recherche communautaire

Community Research volunteers support QPIRG-McGill’s community-driven research programming. Among its activities include doing outreach for the Community University Research Exchange (CURE) program and facilitating workshops and skillshares. Above all, the committee believes in research as a tool for social transformation- one that is accountable to communities and accessible to all.

Popular Education

Accessibility/Space Committee

The Accessibility Committee has a mandate to evaluate QPIRG’s current barriers to accessibility, researching and providing information on possible solutions, and implementing- or helping to implement- as many as possible. The Accessibility Committee can also help guide other committees or staff at QPIRG, and provide or recommend training where questions of accessibility are concerned. Space Committee is particularly concerned with QPIRG’s physical office space and ensuring that it remains accessible and functional for all staff, board, and visitors.

Rad Frosh

Rad Frosh volunteers help shape the weekend of Rad Frosh to make it as great as it can be! They select workshops, tours and facilitators, brainstorm new ideas/initiatives, help create and compile accessibility information and prepare frosh bags & other frosh materials. Volunteer Rad Frosh facilitators also help ensure that the whole weekend of RF runs smoothly.
